About Dr. Lao


Dr. Lao is the founder and director of New York Oriental HealthCare Center. She has served as the vice-chairperson of the New York State Board for Acupuncture for 9 years and currently a senior advisor for many Acupuncture and alternative and complementary medical associations. Dr. Lao has over 35 years experience of clinical practice and teaching in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine and is backed by a team of competent staff.

While practicing as a physician at the Red Cross Hospital in Canton, Dr. Lao took an apprenticeship with Dr. Huang Siang-Zhou, a famous Traditional Chinese Medical professor decorated by the Chinese medical authorities, for three years before she became a chief physician in combining Western and Oriental medicine under the acupuncture department. She then pursed a higher education and received Ph.D. degree in 1989. Dr. Lao is a strong strong advocate for Acupuncture Legislation. She has devoted her time and energy with legislative department and Board of Education of New York State for the 9 years.

For 35 years, she devoted herself in practicing and researching Traditional Chinese medicine and acupuncture. She has a long list of published works including acupuncture textbooks, many scientific research papers, clinical experience reports, and 78 newspaper articles on the topic of Chinese medicine.

Dr. Lao also serves as advisor for a numerous acupuncture societies and associations and has been a teacher and consultant to many institutions worldwide. She maintains a constant affiliation with these organizations to keep abreast of the latest developments in Oriental Medicine and acupuncture techniques.
