Acupuncture

A closer look at acupuncture
Chinese Medicine refers to a number of treatment strategies. Currently, Acupuncture is perhaps the most widely recognized therapy in America. However, Chinese herbal therapy actually comprises the majority of Chinese Medical treatment. Also included are Oriental BodyWork (TuiNa), therapeutic movement (Tai Chi), breathing maneuver (Qi Gong), diet, etc.

Correct diagnosis is crucial in Chinese Medicine like observing tongue, taking pulses and performing palpation. In fact, an acupuncturist treats you without taking your pulses and looking at your tongue is not practicing acupuncture at all. He is merely inserting needles without using fundamental tools to differentiate subtle changes within the body. The practitioner could insert needles that may not agree with you, thus causing unfavorable results and may even be dangerous. Let’s not fall under the western medical principle – one size fits all. One must follow the principles of Chinese Medicine. After all, every one is unique and treatments should be individualized.
